Azure has raised the default limit for Blob Storage accounts per region per subscription from 250 to 1,000, generally available as of October 27, 2026.

What changed

Before this update, Azure subscriptions were capped at 250 storage accounts in each region. Teams managing workloads that require many isolated storage accounts – for example, per-tenant isolation patterns or multi-tenant SaaS backends – often had to spread across multiple subscriptions to work around the quota.

The new limit of 1,000 storage accounts per region, per subscription applies to standard endpoints and is available for all customers without request or approval.

Why it matters

A higher quota reduces the need for subscription sprawl. Teams that previously maintained dozens of subscriptions to accommodate storage needs can now consolidate into fewer subscriptions, simplifying billing, policy management, and access control.
